Burma - Success StoriesAugust 2003: Union Aid Abroad activists were involved in an international campaign urging the company to reconsider its position and to stop selling holidays to Burma. In August 2003 the company announced that it had decided to suspend operations for the foreseeable future. January 2002: This was an imporant success for all who campaigned through writing letters, sending postcards and protesting in the streets. October 2001: The bras, labelled Made in Myanmar, retailed in Australia in Target, Grace Bros and Kmart. The decision by Triumph International (Australia) to cease sourcing bras in Burma came days after unions and community groups undertook a ritual bra burning outside a Sydney department store. Union Aid Abroad-APHEDA activists were involved in a postcard campaign targetting Triumph International (Australia) and in street demonstrations against the company.
