Urgent Action Needed on Gaza Strip and West Bank

The increasing gravity of the humanitarian emergency for the 1.4 million people, mainly refugees, who live in the Gaza Strip, deserves a priority international response; but the situation of Palestinians in the West Bank also requires attention.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs today issued a report on the impact of the 720km Separation Wall on West Bank communities "Three Years Later: The Humanitarian Impact of the Barrier Since the International Court of Justice Opinion". On 9 July 2004 the Court found that the construction of the Wall, and the alienation of land and water resources, in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, conflicts with international law. Only 20% of the Wall follows the Green Line, the borders of the state of Israel after the 1948 war.
