Don't Deal with Burma13 October 2009It’s time to send a message to Australian companies helping fund Burma’s military dictatorship.
A clear message needs to be sent to companies with interests in Burma - "Don't Deal with Burma". Australian companies should not be helping fund brutal Burma's military dictatorship and their actions including systematic human rights abuses. Twinza Oil is investing in Burma's oil and gas industry and their project alone will earn the military dictatorship an estimated US$2.5 billion. Income from this project alone could fund a quarter of Burma's military, the 12th largest in the world, for a decade. This national campaign aimed at cutting all Australian support to the Burmese military dictatorship was launched in September 2009. You can play a key role in this campaign.Go to the Burma Campaign Australia website to find out more about the campaign and how you can get involved.Sometimes the best way of taking action is simply speaking about the issues with your friends, family and co-workers. But sometimes you might not have all the answers or know what to say. A range of campaign tools has been developed that you can use.
