Project History
Union Aid Abroad-APHEDA has worked in Cambodia since 1985, contributing to the reconstruction and development of a country devastated since the early 1970s by 3 decades of conflict including the Khmer Rouge.
Union Aid Abroad has worked in partnership with government agencies, local NGOs and trade unions, to develop opportunities for the unemployed, poor farmers, and workers, to gain the education and skills needed to improve low living standards. Union Aid Abroad has supported programs in technical/vocational teacher training, agricultural technical training, employment and agricultural skills training, environmental awareness, labour rights training, and HIV/AIDS & reproductive health.
Several thousand Cambodians obtained employment, through technical/vocational education programs which provided relevant employment skills. Many have gained formal employment, in urban areas, and many others have been able to make income from home using the vocational or agricultural skills they have acquired.
