Alliance with AusIraq
In 2005, as the US-led occupation of Iraq continued, the Australia/Iraq Trade Union Solidarity (AusIraq) community group approached Union Aid Abroad-APHEDA to collaborate on fundraising efforts to assist unions and civil society organisations in Iraq.
AusIraq's community fundraising efforts are directed to develop the capacities and skills of democratic labour movement in Iraq, via the General Federation of Iraqi Workers (GFIW), the General Union of Oil Employees, the Federation of Workers Councils and Unions in Iraq.
